Gabion machine line

The gabion mesh production line is a highly automated production line comprising multiple pieces of equipment to ensure efficient production from raw steel wire to the final gabion mesh. These include a wire tensioning device, a gabion wire mesh machine, an automatic mesh rolling machine, an automatic cutting machine, an edge forming machine, a hydraulic packing machine, and a wire spring coiling machine. This ensures the gabion mesh production process is efficient, precise, and automated, meeting the needs of large-scale production and saving labor costs.

Wire spring coiling machine
A spring winding machine can automatically wind steel wire into a spiral spring shape according to specific standards and place it in a spring tube for weaving gabion mesh.
Wire tension device
The main function of the Wire tension device in the gabion mesh machine is to keep the wires neatly arranged and under uniform tension, so that the wires can smoothly enter the gabion mesh machine.

Automatic mesh rolling machine
The automatic gabion mesh winding machine uses a motor-driven spindle rotation principle to automatically wind the woven gabion mesh into rolls for convenient storage, transportation, and subsequent use.
Automatic mesh cutting machine
The operator sets the cutting length and quantity of the mesh on the control panel. The automatic mesh cutting machine cuts the woven gabion mesh according to the set size and is equipped with an automatic counting function.

Edge forming machine
The edge-pressing machine bends the edge of the mesh using an edge-pressing device to form a firm edge, preventing the mesh from becoming loose or deformed during subsequent use.
Hydraulic balers
Hydraulic balers typically consist of a hydraulic pump, cylinders, and valves. When the gabion mesh enters the compression zone, the hydraulic cylinders compress the gabion mesh, reducing its volume for easier packing and transportation.

Gabion mesh reinforcement bar
DAPU gabion mesh machines can be customized according to customer requirements. Some customers need to add horizontal or vertical reinforcing ribs. The wire threading position on the touch screen is directly fixed, and the reinforcing wire is manually threaded.
Due to DAPU’s excellent customization capabilities, it has gained recognition from numerous customers.

Gabion mesh application
Gabion baskets are made of heavy galvanized wire / ZnAl (Golfan) coated wire / PVC or PE coated wires, the mesh shape is hexagonal style.
Gabion mesh machine is used to produce gabion mesh and stone boxes. The gabion baskets are used widely in slope protection, foundation pit supporting, mountain rock holding, river and dams scour protection.

What is a gabion machine?
Gabion mesh machines are also frequently called gabion wire mesh machines or hexagonal mesh machines. They are industrial equipment specifically designed for producing gabion mesh, capable of weaving corrosion-resistant wires such as galvanized or PVC-coated wire into hexagonal patterns through continuous left-right twisting.
The woven gabion mesh is then cut into mesh panels, edged, and assembled into flexible box-like structures. These structures can be filled with pebbles or other stones for erosion control, retaining walls, canal lining, rockfall protection, and building cladding. This double-twisted hexagonal mesh will not unravel even if partially damaged.
Types of gabion mesh machines?
DAPU currently develops and designs single-twist and double-twist gabion mesh machines.
1. Double-Twist Gabion Mesh Machine
This is currently the most widely used weaving technology in modern heavy-duty CNC gabion mesh machines. It uses a double-twist rotary motion, alternating left and right, to twist adjacent steel wires together two to three times, forming a highly stable hexagonal mesh. This weaving technology prevents the entire gabion mesh from loosening due to localized damage.
2. Single-Twist Gabion Mesh Machine
This is the weaving technology used in traditional gabion mesh machines. The steel wire only needs to be twisted once, resulting in high production speed. The only drawback is instability; localized damage can render the entire gabion box unusable. Therefore, it cannot be used for heavy-duty barriers.
Key Technologies of Gabion Mesh Machines
When purchasing a gabion mesh machine, it is necessary to understand the important specifications of the equipment, which typically include the following:
1. Maximum Wire Diameter
When the raw material wire diameter is at the edge of its maximum range, will it cause malfunctions during twisting, resulting in equipment damage or wire breakage due to compression? This is especially true for PVC-coated wire, as it may damage the surface coating and cause raw material loss.
2. Mesh Size
Note the maximum and minimum opening sizes. DAPU gabion machines typically produce mesh sizes of 50*70mm, 60*80mm, 70*90mm, 80*100mm, 90*110mm, 100*120mm, 110*130mm, 120*140mm, 130*150mm, etc. Mesh sizes vary depending on the application and may require customization based on customer requirements.
3. Production Speed
Production speed is the core of the entire production line and a crucial metric for calculating return on investment. It is typically measured in meters per minute (m/min) of wire mesh produced. Higher production speeds directly translate to higher hourly output and lower labor costs per square meter of wire mesh.
Why choose CNC instead of mechanical gabion machines?
1. Mechanical gabion machines rely primarily on mechanical levers and gear transmissions to weave the gabion mesh, resulting in a complex structure and a high failure rate.
2. Adjusting parameters such as mesh size, gabion box size, and twist pitch typically requires manual replacement of gears, sprockets, and molds, which is complex and leads to significant downtime.
3. Operators need to be highly experienced to operate the equipment proficiently.
4. Production speed is relatively slow, with output only about one-third that of CNC gabion machines.
5. CNC machines are unsuitable for weaving PVC-coated yarn, as it will damage the coating on the yarn surface.
6. The woven mesh may have unevenness.
